ntroduction to Investing: Building Confidence with Your Money
The session will be a friendly, jargon-free introduction to investing designed for women who want to take charge of their financial future — whether you’re just starting out, sitting on savings you’re not sure what to do with, or ready to move past “I’ll figure it out someday.”
We’ll cover the essentials:
- What investing actually is (and isn’t),
- The difference between saving and investing,
- Key concepts like risk, return, and compound growth – looking at different asset types
- An overview of common investment vehicles (ISA’s, Unit Trusts, Pensions),
- How to think about getting started — even with a small amount.
By the end, you’ll walk away with:
- A clearer understanding of how investing differs from saving, and why that distinction matters
- The core vocabulary — risk, return, compounding, diversification — so financial conversations and articles make sense
- A working knowledge of the main investment options available to you and how they differ
- A simple way to think about matching an investment approach to your own goals and timeline
